Is there any news on this? I think it should be possible to have all of this in the .NET5 world and beyond and keep the old behaviour for :net...

In my eyes NullableContextOptions is not needed anymore. Have a look at https://github.com/dotnet/sdk/issues/3256 Rather set `Nullable enable`
@davkean Could you point me to some bits to start with it? Then i would contribute some time to it.
@JimBobSquarePants I think this needs to be merged first. After this changes are in the repo my PR with nullable changes should hopefully compile. (IT works on my machine ;)...
If you want I can drop the ifdefs to get the rest in?
