I'd love to see translation happen, but it would require some changes in the font format first, to support unicode. These changes aren't really in my priority list right now.
We can keep the same font rendering (it's not great, but it works). It just needs some basic unicode support, and the ability to put font glyphs at arbitrary positions...

If it helps, you could try changing it so pressure doesn't go into walls. Right now it goes into the wall but doesn't go through to the other side.
