TODO before v2.39 - add docs and fix https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/issues/11255 to make it simpler to use out-of-order.

/prombench pre-ooo I created a branch out of the above commit, to only test this PR. This benchmark is to check any overheads without enabling OOO.

Looks like I can't test against a branch or commit. So I will do it as part of the usual release benchmark then (v2.39 coming soon).
