Also, the system should detect escaping charaters. So, you can add the '-', '\_' and ' ' charater to a syllable (usefull when writing more words on the same note)....

Also, thinking a bit ahead... You should be able to add e.g. bold and italic in the same way as in Markdown (if it's worth the work for implementation).
 Seems that you mistakingly changed other "deletes" to start with a capital letter (as shown above). Only "Hide/delete" should be changed to "Hide/Delete"
@cbjeukendrup true, it actually seems better then buttons. Also, a quick mockup for checkboxes (hover-not hover). New suggestion?

It seems there's no shortcut for an elision in MS4 (yet?).  You'll need to do it like the MS4 handbook says: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/lyrics#elision-slur
