I guess the biggest benefit would be not being dependent on an old library without any updates (u-root < v0.12.0)

I learned about vimto from the cilium/ebpf CI pipeline, and wanted to keep my own bpf testing pipelines close to that, and also wanted to keep using the kernel images...
