I'm pretty sure TexImage2DAsync is currently not functional. At least, if it is, I haven't been able to figure out how to use it. The only workaround I could find...
Apologies to anyone who's had the same problem, I was able to solve it but never got around to updating this issue. I'm going to do my best to explain...

That all sounds ideal. Hopefully the new methodology doesn't cause you too much trouble to implement.
