For my purposes it was pretty easy to just create a new transparent image for the text to sit on and then just rotate that on to the canvas.

+1 still having this issue Craft: 3.4.27 / SEO 3.6.6

I'm experiencing this but only on existing models, when creating a new one the default values come through fine.
