@mdhaber definitely better to raise errors for small values of shape. Maybe we need to add the warning in the documentation that the one should be very cautious with `fit`...
I don't use jupyterlab but enabling extension might help: `$ jupyter labextension install @jupyter-widgets/jupyterlab-manager bqplot`
