On K5.2 and previous versions you haven't the choice you have all the time the sample data are installed, so when you don't install sample data you shouldn't have access...

So you mean that your browser have the url : www.example.com/forum but in your message you put the following link www.subdomain.example.com/forum ?

Please say if use mysql or mariadb and which version, if you have still the issue with recent version of Kunena please re-open a new issue
