Agreed that this is at least a minor bug that should be fixed. I don't have time right now to get to the bottom of it, but I tracked it...
I'm also having the identical problem on Lando instances of multiple Platform.sh projects.

Drupal Console is basically abandoned, Drush 10 has a lot of handy generators: https://www.drush.org/latest/commands/generate/
