It *does* appear the something is working, though, because if I make the systemd timeout long enough and try logging in - idm users **can** log in, my fault not...
I tried building 1.7.3 packages forking network:idm/kanidm on OBS, and I believe the behaviour is the same as 1.7.1 on both respect, unixd not starting, and pam not falling back...
