Sadly no working direct successor could be found but https://github.com/mdziekon/OctoPrint-SpoolManager/ is a working version of the spool manager plugin that is more advanced then Filament Manager.
OllisGit Maintains the only Two filament mangers for octoprint. both are now effectively abandoned with basically the same issue. If anyone could fix it that would be welcome.
@mdziekon Well. The same person also maintained the filament manager plugin and it seems both have run into the same issue of installation and its only going to get worse...
this is happening on ubuntu also. can confirm. Seems repository is no longer being updated.
