I don't think I experienced this again with later versions of Enketo, so closing this.

Decimal fields accept any combination of , . - as inputs but submit empty

So I just noticed something beyond my previous report which makes the issue more serious for me. The behaviour is different depending on the locale that it configured in Firefox....
