Constant crashes if VLC not running

Hi, I'm using the latest version and unfortunately, the plugin crashes several times per minutes if vlc is not running. I think the plugin sould handle more gracefully this situation...

Hi I'm unable to see what version of SIM is currently running. How can I see this either from the gui or from a command? Cheers.
