@larryhynes FWIW [here's](https://gist.github.com/milkey-mouse/1d96e72a0af8c3e56736af42f922c6bc) my simple patch to specify `charset=utf-8` on `text` MIME types. I'm working on a better one (configurable, etc) that I'll submit to the mailing list.

Was it the snapshot image or the backing image that QEMU could not open in the first error? Can you run `stat` on the file? When you manually deleted the...

> I cleaned it up and in the process made the VM unbootable I'm really sorry about that! Did you delete the overlay disk image (the one it tried to...

I found [the AppArmor profile responsible](https://libvirt.org/git/?p=libvirt.git;a=blob;f=src/security/apparmor/usr.lib.libvirt.virt-aa-helper.in;h=dd18c8ab896183638dac21b251abc811edd6ffb6;hb=HEAD#l63). Its only method of whitelisting image files is by their extension... However I can't see why this would be an issue. `backup-vm` always creates...

A gross workaround for this (if AppArmor works how I think it does...) would be to symlink/hardlink to the original disk under a .qcow2 or .img filename if the snapshot...

Do you mean to build & install it? This project is just using the standard Python build system/infrastructure. Or do you mean with canned tasks for running a backup?

Doing the latter option above would lead to messing up the `restore-vm` code (since all the images would be "flattened" & couldn't be restored to the same place). Keeping backwards...

Crazy idea to generalize even further & support libvirt backends other than QEMU, as long as they support snapshots: 1. Snapshot the VM's disks & pivot to the snapshot, same...

I hadn't thought of that when building the Borg "engine," but it seems like it would be pretty easy to do. In its current state backup-vm essentially does the snapshot,...

Why can't you just let them loose on the folder full of symlinks it creates? I don't think I'm even using `--read-special` at the moment, block devices are treated the...
