I've been using hardlinks. I do `cp -l staged/myCrappyFilename.mkv tv/` to create a hard link to where I want the file, and then `tvnamer tv/myCrappyFilename.mkv` to clean up the filename.

Actually, it looks like soft links may already be implemented. I found an option for it in the [config defaults](/dbr/tvnamer/blob/86bed8a06851f7ba47b6c62cfca191e36c8c9bf4/tvnamer/config_defaults.py#L137).
