Background images not loaded in at correct resolution

Background images not loaded in at correct resolution. e.g. a 320x256 game screen and if you load in a background image of the same resolution it is too large.

8x8 sprites getting sliced up

I have a tileset which loads and renders fine but when I switch to 8x8 sprites they get chopped up into alternate lines with blank rows inbetween.
