I am not really familiar with React and the exact scenario you are mentioning; but it does sound that, even though the dropcap element is still there, the `dcapjsStrut` property...
What channel/version/OS of Chrome are you using? I don't see it on your page using 48/Mac.

Update! I have added support for A through the Dropcap.options.runEvenIfInitialLetterExists property (defaults to true) Regarding B: - As you point out, generating additional CSSOM rules is painful. Not so much...
I will try to look into these; since the platform does not expose font metrics we do our best effort to figure them out but this does not always work....
