I think it's not about popularity at this point. The Yaru-Colors theme is no longer maintained. The themes built from Yaru-Colors should be replaced with these official Yaru color variant...
If non-root ever turns up as a requirement again, we'll need to take a new, holistic approach to it anyway, so I'm fine dropping unused code in the interim.
I agree. These changes seem reasonable to me. The more error-handling the better.
