I found a solution. You need to build with devkitPPC r29. I successfully built it with this one: https://wii.leseratte10.de/devkitPro/devkitPPC/r29-1%20(2017)/
If I wanted to try to hack at this, which files should I be looking at? Any pointers, @Maschell , @dimok789 ?
because I want to play GC games on my wiiU with my GC controllers... with more than 1 player. And since asking for it hasn't had much of an answer...

+1 for coral support here too. It would make the app useable in a lot of low-end devices.
Also, this repo is dead. The author is unresponsive. I've taken over as this plugin's maintainer. Check the new repo at: https://github.com/ssorgatem/Octoprint-Filament-Reloaded/tree/master
Do open an issue if it's not working for you and we can try to fix it
