Not able to launch AWS SAM LOCAL in MAC because of NPE

Any update on this issue? I don't think changing IDEs is an acceptable workaround.

Cannot change AWS SAM local executable location on eclipse

I had the same problem. When I changed the sam location in Window > Preferences > AWS SAM Local, it continued to used the old location when debugging the lambda....
