Thanks, that makes the return value consistent with k>1 too, which makes things easier.

pyShpIO.py should inherit the project license, we can remove the copyright line from the file if that's an issue.

CPPFLAGS wasn't working for me (with or without the stdlib flag). This fixed the problem: `xcode-select --install `
