Turns out that `database_2` isn't necessarily populated (e.g. for updated mmCIF: https://www.ebi.ac.uk/pdbe/entry-files/download/1tqn.bcif and https://www.ebi.ac.uk/pdbe/entry-files/1tqn_updated.cif). So, the snippet above doesn't help and detecting this is messier than expected.
