I have done this with a simple view acting as a transparent background and maintaining hiding and showing state on the collapse of the menu.
+1 . This can be solved by adding PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT| PendingIntent.FLAG_MUTABLE as last parameter while creating pendingIntent
