I think the best solution is to introduce a parameter `base_URL` in `_site.yml` that by default is set to `/`.
@lnfel Thank you! Was trying to find out how to get the current index and you saved me having to dig through the source code. I didn't see it anywhere...
I haven't looked into that before, but I will put it on my list. Would definitely make things smoother.
