Set the Main Interface in General->Deployment Info to Main.storyboard to fix the black screen. I also had to change the Example target Bundle Identifier so that it did not clash...
We have run into this issue too. Revisions are fantastic but we're sorely lacking a clean solution to manage init-container updates
