I agree, but why not both? It also seems much easier to do this version using our existing load generator codebase.

The current system time is fine. It can be upgraded with the same syntax down the line to use AWS Time Sync or TrueTime, or whatever.

tpcc: consistency checks are very slow and provide no progress indication
