I have the same issue. Everything disappears when I press the 'o button, then returns when I press it again. Debian Bookworm on Raspberry Pi 4, Wayland, SwayWM, foot terminal....

Yep, looks like your patch makes it work! At least now I can still see the interface when the adapter is powered off.
