Uninstalling my distro's setuptools did the trick, thanks. I've managed to get it installed now.

I've managed to get the plugin working by installing all of rizin, Cutter and rz-ghidra into the same prefix under /usr/local/stow. The README.md in rz-ghidra doesn't seem to make sense....
