I think I understand it now. In the 2:1 setup(two sources -> 1 sink), all 3 connectors in the diagram are sources. That's why you pull down the AUX+ line...

I see the exact same issue. Deleting a string field's value should remove it from the formData and not set it to an empty string. The empty string passes validation...
