This was despite setting the top-level directory to the project folder. Seemed like that information was not passed into the geometry parser/loadstr for the URDF.

I didn't completely follow what you meant by column swapping and equivalent matrices. Are you referring to column operations? We can take this discussion to another messaging channel like Zulip/Slack...

Any updates on this bug, particularly in the context of @leejm516? I do not see error bars on groupedbars now... 
@jmtlawrie I think to figure this issue, you need the groups to be categorically sorted as well (in addition to the names), it will work then.
