Works for me too on Debian testing.
Works as intended.
What about the Windows, X11, and Qt windowports? TTY obviously can't permanently display the window, but there should have a command to show it and wait for user.
How do you convey the same info in TTY?
Look up NetHack-el - it created a new windowport outputting lisp, so you could use emacs to play NetHack.

1) Don't mix unrelated spelling changes to adding a new monster 2) No tile for the hobbit zombie 3) The hobbit zombies feel like flavorless popcorn; just a weak undead
What UI are you using? Nethack.exe or NethackW.exe? Something else?
