I think the OP wants this to be part of the compiler, but it might break app compat. Certainly an easy and good case for the codefix provider.

It will be some work to do this and the community is free to implement this looking over the C# implementation as a reference. I personally don't have VB.NET experience.
I think there is no reason you can't write it in C#, in fact I looked at it, and all though it would be hard to come up with unit...

This is probably unlikely to happen unless someone really moves to IOperations. I tried, but there were enough things that couldn't move to IOperation so I deprioritized working on it.
