8x or 3 times 2x?

what's the difference between upscaling 8x and upscaling 2x 3 times quality wise? (I haven't compared the same input picture yet) - ```upscaling 8x + tta + noise 3``` takes...

I keep getting ```^C``` at the end of the upscale log.  I suddenly can't upscale a 4043x5750 2x on google colab although I used to be able to upscale...
