The internal bug (128990665) was just marked fixed not too long ago, so I'm assigning this to @steffnay to investigate what needs to be done here, if anything.

Can you confirm that the code you are using is https://github.com/googleapis/nodejs-datastore/blob/main/samples/tasks.add.js and https://github.com/googleapis/nodejs-datastore/blob/main/samples/tasks.markdone.js? Or are you using a tutorial on cloud.google.com? They should be the same but sometimes end up...
