reads to me like there is no need for changing plugin-id for an already published plugin - so this issue could be closed (?)

Connection failed: too many redirects

could it help as first "workaround" to just wrap the requestBuilder with a try-catch to catch the exception, return null and continue with all the other tasks of the plugin...
