The comment over your linked line is about collaborators. Since I am a Member of the widelands organisation this might be related.

Workaround: Instead of logging in via OAuth I created a Personal Access Token with scope "repo,read:org,gist,notifications,user" (the same as used for OAuth). With this token everything works as expected.
