Can we get this merged? Seems pretty silly for this to still be an issue after someone's submitted a PR fixing it.
It removes `notificationButton` from the global scope, which is [against best practices](https://stackoverflow.com/a/10525602). May be better to submit this with some more edits to the javascript files.
