As per https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/pull/4186#issuecomment-1214376011, it seems overlay shouldn't be used for subtitles display. I am not sure how OSD works with scaling though.

I see that libbackward is provided in [Debian](https://packages.debian.org/sid/libbackward-cpp-dev). Would it be acceptable to check in configure for the header presence in toolchain and use it if it is here? This...
