Seems similar to #1543, but I thought it was only for empty ppts. I'll try investigating this.
I have investigated the above issue regarding the meta-data files, I believe its caused by #1432. Thus the powerpoints are not closed properly.

Update: The spelling error has been fixed.
Is there a reason why .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is checked to be installed but the Client Profile is version 4 instead?
We decided to stick to greying out the buttons.
Note that popups are more expressive, giving more information to the user while disabled buttons are less distracting. We could use tooltips with disabled buttons to give the same information...
