I've never tried to do something like this myself. What's the current behaviour, and how is this stopping you from achieving your goal?
It is unclear why this is not working. The [BlueZ documentation](https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/bluez.git/tree/doc/mgmt-api.txt#n662) doesn't give any information about why `0x540` might be an invalid device class, and neither does the [Bluetooth website](https://www.bluetooth.com/specifications/assigned-numbers/Baseband/).
