Thats correct, the UIApplicatinDelete will get a "applicationWillResignActive:" call once the interruption begins, and will get a "applicationDidBecomeActive:" if the interuption is ignored the application will call "applicationDidBecomeActive:".

Maybe hoke that logic with the current "ping" mechanism? ie, if the ping fails a few times, put the connection into the reconnect state that you currently have.
