@cbgbt Its actually an interesting point. We were originally on managed nodegroups using Amazon Linux 2 AMIs and the ease of managing these node groups with eksctl established the process...

+1 for compilation cache on S3 with generic CPI support (eg vSphere CPI)
+1 Its pretty odd that any time you need to make a config change that we would need to wait at least 20 mins for the whole VM to rebuild...
