Perhaps you could use the [JavaScript clipboard API](https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/AppleApplications/Conceptual/SafariJSProgTopics/CopyAndPaste.html) instead of an external util and just let Webkit take care of it regardless of the graphical environment.
