This would be amazing. While your workaround works, I understand that it wouldn't work in Shiny when you want to update a tile using `leaftletProxy` (because of the onRender piece)....
Your tiles are displaying only on Leaflet JS because you are using the vectorGrid plugin to display them, which is capable of displaying .pbf vector tiles. R's `addTiles` can't work...
