I am able to run a 538MHz pixel clock (2560x1440@144 Hz) without any patch on the 10.11 betas on my Mid 2013 rMBP.

I doubt it cares about the resolution. They may have unlocked the pixel clock on the nVidia GPU alone on some models. I don't know if the Intel-only ones work.
