Yes, you must set it in the .vimrc, but not during running vim ....
You can use command `ClangSyntaxCheck` to do syntax check. Automatically error check in background is unsupported yet.

Please update vim-clang to the lastest version, and have a try. This was a bug in older version of vim-clang. I can't reproduce it with the latest version, thank you.
