It is certainly not because explorer accesses localStorage. How much data do you have in chrome.storage.local ? How many writes are performed? Does the devtools crush when you open storage...

Well, there is unfortunately nothing I can do now, ui have to be rewritten in order to handle large amounts of items
Been wanting to do this for a long time, but indexeddb api makes it very hard to create an effective explorer. I promise to look into this if [Observer API](https://github.com/w3c/IndexedDB/issues/51)...
I think this is a good idea, which can be theoretically even better than official apis I was planning on using. Unfortunately I have pretty much abandoned Storage Area Explorer...
