I was getting this error and was able to fix it by assigning my global grunt-cli in the settings for `grunt-runner`: `/usr/local/lib/node_modules/grunt-cli`. Hope this also helps other.

@BlaineSch I think we all understand the issue, I have yet to try @ryanve workaround but it looks promising and doesn't require a rewrite of the entire library.
I'm going to go ahead and build the composer.json file and issue a PR - hopefully it will be accepted.
