There's a good python library out there you can use in case you decide to support rTorrent, https://github.com/fuzeman/rtorrent-python. Supports both scgi, http and https (same one used within CouchPotato)

Ability to set UID/GID of the www-user (or create an dedicated user) would be very handy indeed. Moveing to something like previously suggested (https://github.com/nhnent/tui.editor) would be an HUGE improvement IMHO, or atleast something that resembles an wysiwyg editor
